Treat the new Office 365 150 MB maximum message size with caution | Tony Redmond’s Exchange Unwashed Blog

The news that Office 365 now allows tenants to increase the maximum message size (for sending and receiving) to 150 MB did not fill me with joy. Yes, it’s nice to be able to send half a CD attached to a message, and yes, it makes it much easier to be able to send that very large digital photo to another Office 365 user, but ask yourself – is this really practical? Connectors, gateways, and other email servers have to be factored into the equation and most of the people running these critical pieces of email infrastructure have to be convinced that 150 MB is a good size to support. So think about the consequences before rushing to embrace the new maximum.
